"Electric Otto" - Magdeburg takes part in Shared E-Fleet test
Head Mayor Dr. Lutz Trümper inaugurates „Shared E-Fleet” model test in Magdeburg
Berlin / Magdeburg, 04.03.2015: The authorities of the state capitol now have the option to use electric cars for business trips. On Monday, March 2nd, 2015, mayor Lutz Trümper welcomed the electronic fleet.
The aim Shared E-Fleet research project is to analyze the efficiency of electric vehicles as part of a larger fleet. The state capitol of Magdeburg is the first public authority to take part, marking an important step in the research process, and establishing itself as a forerunner in sustainable electronic car sharing.
Following the opening ceremony, the participants took the Shared E-Fleet BMW i3s for a test drive on the Magdeburg market square.

Aside from companies in Munich and Stuttgart, the city and state capitol of Magdeburg is the first communal participant in the corporate e-car sharing model test throughout Germany. The staff will test the vehicles regarding their day-to-day capabilities savings potentials. The eco-friendly sharing is enabled through cloud-based IT solutions for booking, use optimization and smart charging. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy funds the project.
