Exciting start for eMobility-Scout

Research project aims for more efficiency of e-mobility

Berlin, 01.03.2016: The consortium of prestigious companies and research facilities develops and tests pragramatic solutions to increase the efficiency of e-mobility. „eMobility-Scout“ is part of the IKT EM III research program by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and focuses on the integration of electric vehicles into existing fleets.

Fit for any fleet: the cloud-based IT solution

The “eFleet Cockpit” which is being developed in the course of the project, will offer companies the highest level of comfort in order to minimize obstacles for e-mobility. The open architecture is meant to allow for the integration of various IT components that already exist. “Companies face a number of challenges when they would like to integrate electric utility vehicles into their fleets. The topics that need to be covered are even more complex than with electric cars”, explains project head Frank Meißner of Carano Software Solutions GmbH. “We are looking forward to developing a cloud-based solution together with our partners, which will contribute to reliably introducing eMobility to entire fleets.” The sharing of proprietary charging infrastructure among various companies will also be an element of the consortium’s research.

Keep it simple: removing obstacles with eMobility-Scout

Experienced partners with appropriate know-how are up for the challenge: BVG (Berlin’s transport authority), Carano Software Solutions (head of consortium), Fraunhofer IAO, in-integrierte Informationssysteme and TU Dresden will join forces. The project will deal with a variety of logistical, economic and energetic aspects. The platform is supposed to provide booking functionalities, usage optimization and energy management. To accomplish a dynamic trip and usage planning, vehicle and charging infrastructure data will be used. Intelligent energy management and the interconnection of vehicles and charging infrastructure will accomplish high reliability. In addition, the platform will feature a timetable and rotation planning system. Aside from offering management functionalities for electric fleets, it will also be helpful in building business fleets.
