Before Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services implemented Carano’s electronic driver’s license check, the company relied on manual checks. Excel templates were used for this, which were printed out and filled in by hand. For the check itself, the drivers presented their original driver’s license and a manager checked it for authenticity and validity. The printed log was then signed by the respective driver and the manager. The associated administrative effort for fleet management was considerable. There was a lack of overview, and when lists were filled out by hand, there were always problems if the entries were illegible or the archiving was incomplete.
However, in order to meet the legal requirements, the documentation of driving license checks must be traceable. This is because, in the event of a claim, it provides the necessary proof of the inspections carried out. In order to minimize the effort involved and ensure compliance with legal requirements, the decision was made to use a digital solution for driver’s license checks.

Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services applied various criteria when selecting a suitable software provider. On the one hand, it was crucial for the logistics provider that different test methods are offered. On the other hand, they should be simple and intuitive to use. Approval by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure was also an important selection criterion. Carano was able to convince Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services with its software solution for electronic driver’s license control.
In erster Linie fiel die Wahl auf Carano wegen der drei möglichen Prüfmethoden. Die meisten Anbieter bieten entweder nur die Möglichkeit der Sichtkontrolle oder nur die Prüfung mit NFC-Aufklebern an, bzw. verbinden sie es oft mit dem Thema Maut oder Tankstelle. Das ist für uns jedoch unpraktisch. Wir benötigen eine flexible Lösung, die möglichst viel von unseren ‚Sonderwünschen‘ abdeckt und das haben wir bei Carano gefunden.

Die verschiedenen Kontrollmethoden von Carano lassen sich variable miteinander kombinieren. Neben der Prüfung per Smartphone-App ist auch eine manuelle Kontrolle per USB-Stick an den Unternehmensstandorten sowie eine Sichtprüfung möglich.
Unabhängig von der gewählten Kontrollmethode werden mit Carano liva sämtliche Fahrer- und Führerscheindaten an einem zentralen Ort erfasst und verwaltet. Zudem lassen sich in der Software die Prüfintervalle festlegen, woraufhin die Fahrer automatisch an anstehende und überfällige Termine erinnert werden. Somit entfällt die aufwändige Terminorganisation. Alle durchgeführten Kontrollen und Prüfergebnisse werden lückenlos gespeichert und sind schnell wieder abrufbar.
Mit der Kontrolle per Smartphone-App können Fahrer ihre Fahrerlaubnis selbst scannen, ohne den Führerschein einer Führungskraft vorlegen zu müssen. Das sorgt für zusätzliche Entlastung und weniger Aufwand.

By implementing the electronic driver’s license check, the logistics provider was able to significantly reduce the time spent by employees and managers. In figures, this means an annual saving of around €2,500 in driving license checks. Carano’s solution is also impressive in terms of transparency and traceability. Thanks to its ease of use, acceptance among employees and managers was particularly high.
Die Vorteile auf Seiten der Qualität, beispielsweise die verbesserte Transparenz, sind zwar nicht bezifferbar, machen für mich aber den größeren Teil der Erfolgsstory aus.
